Camping On The Henty River, Tasmania

Don’t let this shot of this stunning destination fool you! Twelve hours before this sunny morning, Tasmania’s wild West coast was blowing in full glory! Back Story goes a little like this. After a couple of days spent in Strahan, we decided to head further North and camp amongst the Dunes on the Henty River. We heard the Trout were biting and not many people would be around, so we stuck the short lever into low and took off over the dunes. It was drizzling when we arrived, but we’re not ones to be put off by a little rain, so Mr Winch angled the truck to best beat the wind coming from North and we began our camp set up. Within ten minutes we had everything up, a fire blazing and drinks in our hand. Then it all turned to crap! The rain came down heavier, the wind changed direction, and there was nothing the fire could do to keep us warm. It was cold and miserable, but we didn’t let it stop us from having a laugh. Character building some would say! The best part of the night was when the fishing rod hooked a big trout, and we ate it for dinner! We were tucked away in our roof top tent by 7:30 pm watching a movie and keeping dry and warm.
This is the morning we woke up to!
